The Philippines is a country that is often ignored in favor of its more popular neighboring countries in Southeast Asia. However, it happens to be a unique tourist destination which offers a blend of the most sophisticated cultures in the continent. Looking back in history, there's certainly a lot of foreign influences to be found, namely from the Chinese, the Japanese and even the Americans. Knowing this, you would certainly be overwhelmed even with the influences these cultures have had on the food. Sinigang - This is simply a soup dish which effectively blends salty and sour flavors. The stock is usually made with a hint of calamansi, guava or tamarind. You can mix in either pork, chicken, shrimp or fish for this dish. Many foreigners have delighted in the unique taste of this dish and have certainly found themselves longing for more of it.
